Two Russian Il-38N anti-submarine aircraft completed a multi-hour flight over the Bering Sea and practiced searching for submarines, Report informs via Interfax.
The Bering Sea marks the maritime border between Russia and the United States.
A pair of Il-38N anti-submarine aircraft of the naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet flew over the Bering Sea to carry out missions to search for submarines of a mock enemy, the Pacific fleet said in a statement.
The total flight time was about 8 hours.
After completing the search for mock enemy submarines, Il-38N anti-submarine aircraft returned to their home airfield in Kamchatka, the statement said.
According to the military, over the Bering Sea, the Il-38Ns worked out tactical techniques for group search and classification of submarines, tracking them with the use of radar and hydroacoustic means.
