Norwegian FM doesn't rule out sending troops to Ukraine in future

In the long term, Norway may send troops to Ukraine to provide logistical support and training to the Ukrainian military, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide told the Ukrainian newspaper European Pravda, Report reports via TASS.

“Right now we are not planning to send troops [to Ukraine] <...>. On the other hand, in the very long term, I don’t think that we should rule out anything in principle,” the newspaper quotes him as saying. At the same time, Norway “has no desire to be a direct party” to the conflict, so the potential deployment of troops will be limited to logistical and logistical units, the minister added.

On Thursday, political consultant to the US State Department and the US Department of Defense Edward Luttwak, in an opinion piece for the UnHerd portal, expressed the opinion that Great Britain, France, as well as the countries of Northern Europe, are preparing to send support troops to Ukraine in order to prevent its “catastrophic defeat.” In March, French President Emmanuel Macron did not rule out the possibility of sending ground forces from Western countries to the combat zone.
