The EU should create its own armed forces that will prevent wars and maintain peace, Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani said in an interview with La Stampa, Report informs.
“If we want to be carriers of peace throughout the world, we need a European army. This is a fundamental prerequisite for conducting an effective European foreign policy,” the politician noted.
In his opinion, in a world with many crises that cover a vast territory from the Middle East to the Indo-Pacific region, a common army for European countries should become a reality.
Earlier, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, also spoke about the need to create European armed forces.
