A training on "Data Journalism" for media representatives was held on May 5-6, jointly organized by the Media Development Agency of Azerbaijan and the Professional Development Program of ADA University, Report informs.
Jeff South, an honorary associate professor at Virginia Commonwealth University who has worked as a reporter and editor in news agencies for more than 20 years, mentored the event.
Aygun Hajiyeva, advisor to the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of ADA University and head of the Professional Development Program, spoke about the importance of the organized program.
She emphasized that the training program serves to develop the knowledge and skills of media representatives and helps them adapt to the requirements of the modern era.
Natig Mammadli, Deputy Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, discussed the special attention his organization pays to the development of innovative skills in the media field.
He stated that the ability to work with information in the digital age, especially specialization in data journalism, strengthens the media's mission to serve society:
"This training program will create conditions for the media to play a more effective role in disseminating fact-based and objective information."
During the training session, Jeff South provided detailed information to media representatives on data journalism and its visualization, drone videography, and other digital skills.
As the training continued, Vafa Isgandarova, manager of the Nakhchivan regional office, made a presentation on "Data-based journalism from a local perspective," discussing the importance and application possibilities of data-based news production.
The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to the media representatives., The paticipants also took a commemorative photo.
