Azerbaijan testing pilot projects on responsible use of AI

Azerbaijan is already testing pilot projects on the responsible use of artificial intelligence in such areas as healthcare, education, agriculture, sports, digital government and many others, Fariz Jafarov, Executive Director of the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the IV Industrial Revolution under the Ministry of Economy, said during the 6th AI and Big Data International Forum, Report informs.

He noted that the National Strategy on Artificial Intelligence adopted in Azerbaijan defines the country's path to ethical, inclusive and innovation-oriented AI and is based on five key areas.

"The first is AI management and regulation: creating a regulatory framework, ethical standards and regulations for its application. The second is talent and education: preparing young people for the future AI-oriented labor market, as well as adapting all citizens of Azerbaijan to the changes that artificial intelligence will bring. The third is data infrastructure and ecosystem. Without supercomputers, data centers, data storage and high-speed Internet, it is impossible to ensure the development of AI," he said.

Jafarov noted that this area involves ensuring high-quality, safe and compatible data in the country.

"The fourth area is research and innovation: supporting the academic community, startups and applied research in the field of AI. And finally, the fifth is international cooperation. Isolation from global developments in the field of AI will not lead to positive results. This is why interaction with global partners and participation in shaping a responsible future of AI is crucial," he added.
