Success in Washington 'result of President Ilham Aliyev's resolute stance'

The documents signed in Washington are not just diplomatic documents, but a restoration of historical justice, political commentator Ulviyya Zulfugar told Report.

According to Zulfugar, behind this success stands President Ilham Aliyev's resolute stance and tireless struggle for national interests:

“Azerbaijan’s peace-oriented stance, its policy of prioritizing national interests while promoting regional stability, has earned international support. The President’s targeted actions have once again yielded successful outcomes. The injustices faced by Azerbaijan in Washington have reached their logical conclusion, marking a triumph of justice and a reflection of the country’s growing influence.

Back in 1992, during the most difficult phase of the Karabakh conflict—when our lands were under occupation and our people were forced to live in tents—the US Congress adopted Section 907, banning direct government aid to Azerbaijan. Meanwhile, Armenia continued its aggressive policies and violated international law.”

Zulfugar emphasized that the provisions included in the document signed in Washington are a clear example of Azerbaijan’s national interests being fully secured through diplomacy:

“This is a triumph for the President of Azerbaijan and his wise diplomacy. One of the most significant developments is the repeal of Section 907 by the United States. This is not just a legal amendment—it is the restoration of long-overdue justice. It also signals the Trump administration’s intention to elevate relations with Azerbaijan to a new level. The successful diplomacy and resolute stance of President Ilham Aliyev have eliminated these injustices and brought about a decisive victory.”

The political analyst concluded that the documents signed in Washington once again demonstrate the strengthening of Azerbaijan’s position on the international stage.
