Azerenerji OJSC has prepared design estimates for the reconstruction of small hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of about 130 MW in the amount of 11 units in Kalbajar District and 12 units in Lachin District, and next year it will reconstruct some of them, Report informs that President of Azerenerji OJSC Baba Rzayev said this during a speech at the 1st Azerbaijan-Turkey Energy Forum in Baku.
"During the past year, Azerenerji, having started its activities immediately after the demining of some territories, in a short time built new digital substations with a capacity of 600 MW, laid more than 400 km of 110 kW power transmission lines and provided electricity to Fuzuli, Jabrayil, Zangilan, Gubadli, Kalbajar, Agdam districts and the city of Shusha. Full-flowing rivers flow in the territories liberated from the occupation, on which about 30 small hydroelectric power plants functioned. The invaders, leaving these territories, destroyed them, took away the equipment, and the remaining structures and equipment fell into disrepair," Rzayev said.
The head of Azerenerji noted that the first infrastructure project in Karabakh after liberation was a hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 8 MW, located in the village of Gulabird. At the next stage, Sugovushan-1 and Sugovushan-2, destroyed as a result of hostilities, were reconstructed and put into operation with a total capacity of 7.8 MW. In addition, in Kalbajar District, another small hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 4 MW is currently in test mode. The total capacity of these stations exceeds 20 MW.
The president of Azerenerji spoke about the Jabrayil energy hub, which is of particular importance for the country's energy system: “Within the framework of this project, a 330 kW substation is planned in Jabrayil District.
The goal of the project is to integrate the Khudafarin and Giz Galasi hydro-power plants into the power system, improve the reliability of the Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur energy systems, in particular, the construction of a 330 kW substation in Shakhtakhti region of Nakhchivan at a distance of 300 km from Jabrayil through the Zangazur corridor, from there laying a line of electricity transmission at a distance of 50km to the border with Turkey, and communication with the Turkish power system in Igdir province. This distance is currently 2.5 times shorter than the existing connection with Turkey via Georgia."
