The initiatives put forward by Azerbaijan within the framework of COP29 are very important, Dinara Kemelova, the Special Representative of the Kyrgyz president, said at a roundtable held in the margins of the UN Pre-Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (Pre-COP29) in Baku, Report informs.
Kemelova noted that countries of the world should be prepared for natural disasters and educate their population in this accordingly:
"We should discuss readiness for possible climate disasters within the framework of COP29. Countries of the world should support UN resolutions on climate. We need to work hard in this regard to reduce the damage to people and nature."
She also emphasized that the lack of tools to combat natural disasters that may occur as a result of climate change is a concerning issue:
"I think we need to find new instruments. For example, when a natural disaster occurred in Kyrgyzstan, people didn't know what to do. We need to fight against the negative consequences of such events."
