During the COP29 summit, the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) delegation met with representatives from several African nations and communities that have suffered from the impacts of colonialism.
According to Report, the meeting brought together parliamentarians, NGO leaders, politicians, eco-activists, and human rights defenders from Mali, Togo, Djibouti, Nigeria, Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Mauritania.
Uzodinma Akujekwe Adirieje, the Chairman of the Global Civil Society Consortium on Climate Change and the Conference of Partners in Nigeria, praised the outcomes of COP29 and congratulated Azerbaijan for successfully organizing COP29.
"We see that the achieved results have exceeded our expectations," he said.
During the event, the BIG delegation engaged in discussions with representatives from African countries on issues of neocolonialism and potential steps to prevent it. They also mulled the implementation of joint cooperation projects, as well as the damage caused to environment and people's health including reparations.
