Azerbaijan pays attention to and cares about the tourism sector under the leadership of the country's President, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Khusrav Noziri, said at the 1st meeting of educational institutions specialized in tourism of the ECO member states, Report informs.
"6 cities in the region have been awarded the title of tourism capital, and one of them is Shusha. As a result of attention to and care for tourism, the city of Shusha was chosen as the tourism capital of Azerbaijan. We believe that we can achieve the development of this sector by continuing our close cooperation during the period of technological development. We must also meet our specific educational needs in the field of tourism," he added.
Mehmet Akif Kirecci, the President of the ECO Educational Institute (ECOEI), said that the member states were addressed concerning more than 70 educational areas for the next three years: "During this period, we will mainly focus on medical and engineering education. We must take into account the sensitivity of the tourism sector. Global trends directly affect the fragility of the tourism sector. We also need to determine which specialties should be taught to our youth so that they can contribute to the development of this field. Of course, the development of tourism contributes to peace and cultural development."
