Both Islamic, Christian religious sites devastated by Armenian occupation

Due to Armenia's military aggression and occupation of Azerbaijani territories, material and cultural sites, including places of worship for both Islam and Christianity, were destroyed over a period of more than 28 years, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of Azerbaijan, stated, Report informs.

Mammadov made the remark during his meetings with Ahmed Toufiq, Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs of Morocco, and Senior Advisor to His Majesty Mohammed VI, during his visit to Rabat.

Mammadov highlighted Azerbaijan's efforts to strengthen interfaith solidarity, noting that events and bilateral meetings aim to foster stronger mutual relations, peace, and dialogue. He mentioned that Azerbaijan has historically been a place where representatives of different confessions live together harmoniously.

He also provided information on the restoration and reconstruction efforts in Azerbaijan’s territories liberated after the Patriotic War.

Participants in both meetings praised Azerbaijan's initiatives to promote global unity and discussed its contributions to strengthening cultural and interfaith relations and multicultural values. They noted that Azerbaijan's achievements in this field are recognized as a successful model globally.

The delegation visiting Rabat, Morocco, to participate in the international conference on "Interfaith Harmony: Promoting Peaceful Coexistence" on December 17, includes leaders of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, deputies, and representatives of various confessions in Azerbaijan.
