Ukraine's 2026 draft budget assumes continued war

Ukraine's draft state budget for 2026 has been developed based on a scenario that anticipates the continuation of the war, said Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko, who addressed the country's parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, Report informs.
"The draft of the main financial document is based on a scenario that includes the continuation of the war throughout 2026," he said.
Marchenko noted that, as in previous years, funding for the defense and security sector will remain a top priority.
Under the baseline scenario, Ukraine's defense and security expenditures for 2026 are projected to reach 1.817 trillion hryvnias - approximately $44 billion.
