Lukashenko pushes for rare Earth metal exploration in Belarus

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has tasked local specialists to delve into the country’s potential reserves of rare earth metals, Report informs via BelTA.

Speaking on March 4 while making key government appointments and outlining strategic priorities, Lukashenko emphasized the need to ramp up geological exploration.

“They say we have rare earth minerals. We also need to explore chemicals, oil, gas, and more. I’ve assigned this task to the relevant minister,” he stated.

The president expressed concern over Belarus’s underdeveloped geological research, pointing out that rare earth metal exploration remains largely overlooked by local experts.

“In the US, only Trump seems to talk about rare earth metals. But have you even thought about it? There aren’t many of them in the ground, but who’s to say we don’t have as much as others?” Lukashenko remarked.
