Hermitage temporarily closed for security check following threat

The State Hermitage Museum has been temporarily closed to visitors following an anonymous security threat, according to Report.

"Today, April 15, 2025, the Hermitage received an anonymous message threatening the museum's security protocols. Entry to the buildings is temporarily closed while exhibition halls and service areas are being inspected," tthe museum's official Telegram channel said.

The museum clarified that tickets purchased for Tuesday will remain valid for another day or after the inspection is completed.

The press service of the Russian National Guard (Rosgvardiya) for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region reported that "personnel from the Rosgvardiya's private security battalion are assisting Hermitage staff in conducting inspections and ensuring visitor safety."
