Erdogan says he plans to discuss possible Trump-Putin meeting in Istanbul this week

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that he intends to hold phone conversations this week with his US and Russian counterparts, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.

According to Report, while commenting on the recent negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul, the Turkish leader told journalists that the goal of these talks is to arrange a meeting between Trump and Putin in Istanbul to address the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

"The last meeting [of the Russian and Ukrainian delegations] took place at the Cıragan Palace. Türkiye was represented by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. I also held a personal meeting with the Ukrainian delegation in Ankara. Recently, I had a phone conversation with Putin. We asked him to support the process. This week, I plan to speak again with Putin, as well as with Trump. The aim is to organize a meeting between the two leaders in Istanbul, and we are making efforts toward this," Erdogan said.
