3 killed in landslide in western Georgia

At least three people were killed as a result of a landslide that covered residential buildings in the Imereti region of western Georgia, according to the press service of the Interior Ministry, Report informs.
“Due to heavy rainfall in the Imereti region, a landslide occurred that affected four residential buildings. In the village of Nergeti, Bagdat municipality, as part of search and rescue activities, one person was rescued and taken to a safe place, and the bodies of three people were found,” reads the statement.
Rescuers continue to search for six more people. The head of the Emergency Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Teimuraz Mgebrishvili, is in the disaster zone. More than 200 firefighters and rescuers, special equipment, and a group of dog handlers are working on the site.
The weather throughout Georgia deteriorated sharply on February 6. In the west of the country, as well as in the high mountain regions, large amounts of snow fell, which caused problems on the roads.
