The appointment of Charles Kushner (who is the father-in-law of President-elect Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump) as the US Ambassador to France is connected with a special relationship with this country, Donald Trump said in an interview with Paris Match newspaper, Report informs.
"Yes, it is a special treatment. It does not happen every day to appoint a family member to a foreign country. He is Ivanka’s father-in-law and a very good friend of mine, but also a very talented and elegant man. He is delighted with this mission. France was his first choice," Trump noted.
He also noted that the priorities in relations between the two countries will be issues related to trade, defense, and the Ukrainian crisis.
