Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon stated that the purpose of her visit to Azerbaijan and Armenia was to familiarize herself with the process of normalizing relations between Baku and Yerevan, Report informs.
Fajon made the remark at a joint press conference with her Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov in Baku.
"The purpose of my visit is to obtain valuable information, to get acquainted with the current peace process, to learn more about the peace treaty project," she said.
The minister emphasized that Slovenia's position on the South Caucasus remains unchanged and the country welcomes the progress made in March on the peace treaty.
"We again call on the parties to take steps for full normalization of relations. The South Caucasus truly deserves peace. I think this is a good historical opportunity to achieve results in the current geopolitical situation, considering how many active armed conflicts there are in the world. We strongly welcome any efforts, every initiative aimed at achieving peace," she added.
