Rahmon: Tajikistan seeks to expand exports to EU market

Tajikistan aims to further expand the export of Tajik manufacturers' products to European markets, using mutual trade preferences, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon said during the second day of the EU - Central Asia summit, Report's correspondent from Samarkand informs.

President Rahmon expressed gratitude to the European Union for its constant support and assistance in Tajikistan's development process.

He noted that the progressive development of relations with the EU, both on a bilateral and multilateral basis, remains one of the country's foreign policy priorities.

According to Rahmon, an important step in this direction is the adoption of a roadmap for deepening relations between Central Asia and the European Union, which has become the main document for expanding interregional cooperation and interconnectedness.

"We in Central Asia are committed to expanding interregional trade and the free movement of goods, services, capital, and people. However, the potential for trade and economic cooperation, taking into account human, intellectual, and natural resources, is still underutilized. At the same time, the volumes of direct trade between Tajikistan and the European Union still remain modest," emphasized Rahmon.

He also noted that Tajikistan has significant potential in the field of mining, with more than 800 deposits identified and partially prepared for industrial development, including critically important raw materials.
