Tajikistan produces 98% of electricity from the country's hydropower resources and ranks sixth in the world in terms of green energy production share, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon said at the opening of the International Climate Forum within the EU - Central Asia summit, according to Report.
He noted that Tajikistan plans to completely transition to renewable energy sources by 2032.
He added that the development of green energy can be a positive step for climate preservation.
"Tajikistan has been actively promoting a new climate agenda on the world stage for the past 20 years. The country pays special attention to climate change and environmental sustainability. <...>. Undoubtedly, there is a close connection between energy and climate change," Emomali Rahmon said.
