Hungary expects that within a few years, conservative patriots will gain a majority in the European Parliament and take control of the European Commission, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in an interview with Magyar Nemzet newspaper, Report informs.
He reminded that after the European elections in 2024, the third-largest faction "Patriots of Europe" was created in the European Parliament, which included representatives from 14 political parties from 12 countries.
"We are redrawing the European party map and want to take control of the European Commission through a majority in the European Parliament. These are our ambitions," said the head of government.
In his opinion, implementing this plan will take several years, but victory will open up great opportunities and prospects.
Orban also noted that he links hopes for strengthening conservative, patriotic forces worldwide with the upcoming inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump.
