NBC: Pentagon chief may resign

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is considering running for governor of Tennessee next year. To do so, he would have to leave his post as Pentagon chief.

Report informs via NBC News that in the past three weeks, Hegseth has seriously considered the possibility of running and starting an election campaign. However, according to Pentagon rules, Hegseth's participation in the gubernatorial election would require his resignation from the post of defense secretary. This will be the largest shakeup in the leadership of the US Department of Defense, notes NBC News.

Pentagon Press Secretary Sean Parnell denied this information in a comment to the television channel and said that “Secretary Hegseth's focus remains solely on serving under President Trump and promoting the principle of “America First“ at the Department of Defense“. “The lying NBC is so desperate for attention that it is again selling a fabricated story. There are two possible scenarios: either the sources are fabricated or they are mocking their correspondents,” Parnell added.
