The annual military exercises Baltops will be held in the Baltic Sea region on June 5-17. The exercises will begin in Stockholm, after which the military will conduct maneuvers in the Baltic Sea and the airspace of the region. The maneuvers will end in Germany.
Report informs citing the Latvian media, that 16 states will participate in the exercises, of which 14 are NATO countries and their alliance partners Sweden and Finland.
The United States, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, and Turkiye will also take part in the exercises.
More than 4,000 soldiers, as well as amphibious assault forces, more than 60 aircraft, and 40 ships of various classes, are involved in the exercises. During the maneuvers, the military will work on collective defense in the Baltic region and the implementation of the deterrence policy.
