NATO cancels Ukraine meeting at Hague summit

The discussion of the war in Ukraine at the NATO summit was canceled at the last moment. The reason was the changed schedule of meetings due to US President Donald Trump, Politico wrote, Report informs via RBC Ukraine.

NATO representatives decided to shorten the agenda. In The Hague, as in Canada the other day, there will be no long communiqués, only short statements on new commitments.

The shortened NATO schedule includes only two main events:

  • a welcome dinner at the castle of the Dutch royal family
  • and one meeting of the North Atlantic Council.

Previously, there were two or three major events besides the dinner with the royal family.

The agency also notes that it is unclear whether Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will attend, as he was only invited to the opening dinner on Tuesday.

Also, due to the reduced duration and number of events, there will be no meeting of the NATO Council on Ukraine in The Hague.

According to the agency, this is another concession by the United States, which, despite calls from some allies to hold such a meeting, was not interested in increasing attention to the war, which Trump has not been able to resolve as he promised during last year's presidential campaign.
