A court in Myanmar has sentenced former state advisor Aung San Suu Kyi to four years in prison, Report informs, citing TASS.
The verdict was passed as part of a court trial by the results of which Aung San Suu Kyi may be sentenced to dozens of years in jail. Among other things, she is charged with the possession of unlicensed radio sets and silencing devices.
The next verdict was to be passed on December 27, 2021 but was postponed for unclarified reasons.
In early December, Aung San Suu Kyi was handed a two-year sentence after being found guilty of incitement and violating coronavirus restrictions. Before that, she had faced several other charges, including violation of the law on the elimination of consequences of natural calamities and corruption. In all, 76-year-old Aung San Suu Kyi may be sentenced to almost 100 years in prison. She denies all the charges.
