Media: Trump did not immediately agree to Israel's plan to attack Iran

US President Donald Trump was initially opposed to Israel's intent to launch an attack on Iran, but later agreed to such actions.

Report informs, citing NBC and multiple sources in the United States and the Middle East, that Trump initially preferred negotiations over airstrikes.

Trump was against the option of Israeli military action against Iran and favored diplomacy rather than bombings, the channel said.

According to NBC, after a decisive briefing by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Kane regarding Israel's plans and the possible role of the United States in supporting the operation, "Trump gave silent consent and decided to provide limited American assistance."

The source said during the briefing on June 8, Trump grew increasingly frustrated with Iran's lack of response to the latest nuclear deal proposal.

By that time — June 8 — Israeli authorities had already shared their operational plans against Iran with Washington.
