France and Germany must do everything to strengthen European sovereignty against the backdrop of US President Donald Trump's inauguration, French President Emmanuel Macron said ahead of negotiations with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Paris.
"Europeans must play their role in light of Trump's arrival," Macron said, according to Report.
"Europe must be strong and sovereign. Action is necessary," he said, adding that "the only answer to the times we are entering is more courage and independence."
