The ongoing strikes by employees of the largest German airline Lufthansa this year have already cost the air carrier approximately 100 million euros, Report informs via TASS.
According to the DPA agency, many customers also refrained from booking flights. HR director Michael Niegeman called on unions to return to the negotiating table. This is the only way, in his opinion, to find a solution to the labor dispute.
On March 7 and 8, a strike by Lufthansa ground service employees is taking place in Germany. In total, about 2,000 flights will be canceled, which will disrupt the plans of about 100,000 passengers. The reason for the strike at the airports was negotiations regarding approximately 25 thousand ground employees of Lufthansa, Lufthansa Technik and Lufthansa Cargo. The Verdi union is demanding a 12.5% pay rise for Lufthansa ground staff, which equates to at least €500 per month for 12 months.
The next round of negotiations will take place on March 13 and 14.
