The mandate for international missions approved by the Lithuanian Seimas for the year 2024 includes the possibility of sending military personnel to the Indo-Pacific region. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, Report informs, citing the Voice of Europe.
According to Landsbergis, Vilnius made this decision because its strategic partners are increasingly focusing on this region. The resolution approved by the Seimas mentions a total of 13 international operations.
“To achieve these goals, the State Defense Council has agreed to Lithuania’s participation in allied operations in the region, sending up to 10 soldiers and civilian personnel from the national defense system,” said Landsbergis.
