Marine Le Pen, leader of France's National Rally party’s parliamentary faction, has hinted that the 2027 presidential election could mark the end of her political career, Report informs via TASS.
In an interview with Le Parisien, Le Pen stated, "In politics, one never says 'never.' However, I think that if I am not elected president, this will be the last election."
This comes amidst legal troubles for Le Pen. A Paris court recently found her guilty of misusing European Parliament funds, alleging that between 2006 and 2016, she fraudulently hired parliamentary assistants for party work.
As a result, she has been sentenced to four years in prison, with two years suspended and the remaining two to be served under house arrest.
