Japan’s opposition launches no-confidence motion against Kishida government

In a bold move, Japan's leading opposition party, the Constitutional Democratic Party (CDP), has submitted a draft resolution expressing no confidence in Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s government to the lower house of parliament, Report informs referring to Kyodo.

The opposition's discontent stems from the Cabinet's alleged failure to adequately address public concerns and reform the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) amidst a scandal involving misappropriated political donations from businesses.

The no-confidence motion has garnered support from other opposition parties, including the Society for the Renewal of Japan and the Communist Party, signaling a united front against the Kishida administration.

The resolution is set to be voted on during a plenary session of the lower house, with the ruling coalition of the LDP and Komeito Party expected to reject the bill.
