Japan eases travel restrictions

Japanese authorities are easing entry restrictions today, not requiring a negative coronavirus test with a certificate of three vaccinations with vaccines recognized in the country, and also allowing tourist groups without a guide, Report informs via TASS.

Under current regulations, certificates of vaccination with Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Janssen, Bharat Biotech and Novavax are recognized as valid when entering Japan.

In addition, the maximum number of people who can enter the country has been increased. Since September 7, this limit has been increased from 20,000 people per day to 50,000 people per day.

From September 7, tourists are allowed into Japan without the obligatory accompaniment of a guide. However, tourism is still allowed only as part of organized tours provided by travel companies or agencies. Individual tourism is not yet allowed. As tourists, you can now come to Japan not only from countries that are classified in Tokyo as a "blue" or epidemiologically safe group, but also from the "yellow" and "red" groups, which include countries with a problematic pandemic situation.

For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, tourists were allowed to come to Japan in June, but only as part of organized groups and accompanied by a guide. This was one of the reasons why only about 8,000 tourists visited the country in June and July, although before the pandemic, Japan received up to 30 million travelers a year.
