Enlargement of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) carries unacceptable risks, which Moscow will oppose, said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko, Report informs.
"The second factor that has a severe impact on the deterioration of security in Europe is the enlargement of the alliance. In 1997, only one country, which shares a common border with Russia, knocked on the door of NATO, and that was Poland.
"Today, many countries are members of NATO, and their territories are openly used to project power against Russia from different geographical directions and strategic depths. It also seriously worsens our security and poses unacceptable risks for it, and we will resist it," Grushko said.
