Afghan security forces have eliminated Taliban* intelligence chief, Afghanistan's Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement, Report informs, citing RIA Novosti.

"During a special operation of the Afghan special police forces ... in the province of Logar last night, the head of the Taliban* intelligence Kari Shagasi was eliminated ... two more militants were detained," the statement said.

In Afghanistan, the government forces are confronting the Taliban* militants, who have seized significant territories in rural areas and launched an offensive against large cities.

Instability in Afghanistan is growing against the backdrop of promises by the US administration to complete the withdrawal of troops from the country by September 11.

In 2020, Washington and the Taliban* signed in Doha the first peace agreement in more than 18 years of war. It provides for the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan in 14 months and the beginning of an inter-Afghan dialogue after the exchange of prisoners.
