The chairwoman of the Inspection Commission of the Board of the Azerbaijan Photographers Union, well-known photojournalist Fargana Gasimli, who met with the students of the Report Media School, said that she came to the profession with the famous "Khudafarin Bridge" photo.
"Although I am a teacher by profession, my interest in photography arose in my childhood. I bought my first camera when I was 15 years old. As I love to take pictures, I carried it with me everywhere. It was 2010, I went to Iran with my family. I took a picture of "Khudafarin Bridge" from that side at that time. I could see the ruined houses behind the bridge. And that photo took me to journalism, and in 2010, with this photo, I became the winner of the "My Azerbaijan" photo contest held jointly by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the "GoMap" website. In 2021, I took a picture of that place from the already liberated territory of Azerbaijan," she said.
Gasimli noted that the photo plays an important role in journalism: "Image is very important in journalism, so a photojournalist should do their job well. It is not possible to take one or two photos, you need to take a lot of photos of any event to be able to show something. Those who read the news should also see the event with their own eyes."
Fergana Gasimli was born in 1982. She has been interested in photography since she was 6 years old. She started working as a professional photographer in 2013. As the winner of international photo contests, she won many prizes and was awarded honorary titles. Her photos, mainly about Azerbaijan, were published in international and local books and magazines.
