Russian Foreign Ministry has called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to comply with the provisions indicated in the tripartite statements on November 9, 2020 between the three countries, emphasizing that the Lachin road should only be used for the purposes outlined in this document, Report informs, citing the Russian Foreign Ministry's statement posted on its website.
"We call on Baku and Yerevan to strictly comply with all the provisions of the Statement of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia dated November 9, 2020. We note that the Lachin road should be used only for the purposes indicated in this document. We expect that the parties will come to agreements regarding the development of ore deposits in the region," the statement said.
According to the message, Russia stands for the comprehensive implementation of the entire complex of tripartite agreements at the highest level aimed at unblocking transport and economic ties in the region, delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, preparing a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan and establishing contacts between public figures and experts and parliamentarians of the two countries.
The Russian side, in particular the leadership of the Russian peacekeeping contingent (RPC), continues to take consistent steps to resolve the situation in the region.
"We emphasize that it is Russian peacekeepers who make a key contribution to ensuring security in the area of their deployment, which was noted by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia at the October 31 summit in Sochi. We consider any public attacks and provocations against our peacekeepers as unacceptable and deliberate actions that cause tangible harm to the process of Armenian-Azerbaijani normalization," the statement said.
