The United States has expressed its support for Tajikistan's involvement in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR or Middle Corridor) project, which aims to connect China with Europe via the Caspian Sea, Asia, and the Caucasus countries, US Ambassador to Dushanbe Manuel Micaller said an interview with Khovar News Agency, Report informs via TASS.

This development comes as a strategic move to strengthen trade ties while circumventing Russia's influence in the region.

Micaller emphasized the significance of Tajikistan's participation in this ambitious trade route.

"We support Tajikistan's involvement in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, which will link Central Asia with the Caucasus and European markets," he stated.

The ambassador further highlighted the potential for enhanced cooperation through the "C5+1" diplomatic platform, which brings together the United States and its five partners in Central Asia.

"We hope to assist these partners in achieving closer cooperation and access to world markets through the 'C5+1' platform," he added.

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, also known as the Middle Corridor, stretches from China through Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye to Europe. It facilitates container transportation via rail and sea.

In 2022, Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, announced the EU’s intention to enhance economic cooperation with Central Asian countries. This includes developing new transport corridors that bypass Russia, with a particular focus on the Middle Corridor.
