Passenger transportation soars by 36% in Azerbaijan

From January through November 2022, freight and passenger transportation in Azerbaijan increased by 12.9% and 35.5%, respectively, compared to the same period last year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

According to the Committee, business entities operating in the transport sector carried 197.3 million tons of cargo within 11 months, 57.4% of which was transported by road, 30.3% by pipeline, 8.6% by railway, 3.5% by sea, and 0.2% by air.

The volume of cargo transported by vehicles of the non-state sector increased by 12.5%, and the specific weight of this sector in the total volume of transported cargo was 78.1%.

Transport companies served 1,466.2 million passengers during the reporting period: 86.8% of passengers were transported by car, 12.8% by metro, and the rest by other types of transport.
