Overchuk: Khanoba checkpoint - important element of North-South corridor

The Khanoba border checkpoint, which was opened on March 17 on the Azerbaijani-Russian border, is one of the important elements of the North-South international transport corridor, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexey Overchuk said at the opening ceremony of the customs post, Report informs.

Overchuk said he was pleased to see such a modern and convenient checkpoint on the Russian-Azerbaijani border: “It plays an important role in transporting goods from India, Pakistan, Iran and Azerbaijan to Russia. This transport corridor is the most important project of the 21st century.”

Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev told reporters that the Khanoba border checkpoint would provide significant assistance to the development of bilateral economic relations between Azerbaijan and Russia.

Mustafayev noted that the checkpoint is part of the North-South corridor: “The customs point will increase the capacity at the border and create ample opportunities for the development of transit traffic.”
