Kazakhstan is inviting Vietnam to consider the possibilities of the Middle Corridor for exporting goods to Europe, according to a message from the government of Kazakhstan, Report informs.
“Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin held a meeting with Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam Nguyen Hong Dien on May 15. During the meeting, Zhumangarin said that Vietnam is one of the important partners in Asia for Kazakhstan. Trade turnover between the two countries [based on the results of 2023] grew by 85%, reaching almost $1 billion,” the information says.
The deputy prime minister also invited Vietnamese companies to explore the possibilities of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR, Middle Corridor), which will allow Vietnamese exports to move from east to west 3-4 times faster than along sea routes, significantly reducing costs.
“We consider the TITR the most optimal route between Asia and Europe. We also propose to use the capacities of the Kazakh-Chinese terminal in the seaport of Lianyungang and the dry port in Xi’an,” he emphasized.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the field of mining and processing of rare earth metals.
“The Vietnamese delegation was invited to pay attention to large lithium deposits in Kazakhstan for the production of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles. This will contribute to the growth of the high-tech sector of Kazakhstan and will allow Vietnamese automakers to maintain their competitive advantages,” the information says.
The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route is an international transport corridor running through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and further to Türkiye and European countries.
