The demand for the North-South international transport corridor is quite high, said Emil Ahmadov, an official of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, Report informs.
According to him, there is a two-fold increase in cargo transportation between Azerbaijan and Iran:
"The increase was recorded both in the cargo transportation of the two countries and within the framework of the North-South international transport corridor. In general, the demand for transportation in this direction is quite high. Accordingly, the number of loading and unloading workers has been increased. Currently, construction and repair works are being continued at the Astara terminal in Iran, its facilities are being expanded, and infrastructure works are being carried out to increase the existing platforms and cargo turnover, which makes its contribution."
