A subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways (ADY), ADY Container LLC, will start transporting cargo in new directions, the company's director Natig Jafarov told Report's Turkish bureau.
He took part in the international logistics and transport exhibition Logistrans-2021 in Istanbul.
"Our new project consists of cargo transportation to the eastern ports of Russia (Nakhodka, Vostochny), as well as from there to the Samur-Yalama line, and from there via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTQ) railway to Turkey and Europe. At present, ADY Container cooperates with many companies in the logistics and transport sector of Turkey. Our main partner is Pacific Eurasia. As this company is a freight agent of Turkish Railways, we implement all our projects together," he said.
"Transportation of new products depends on new projects. Today's projects envisage the transportation of products from Kashgar, China, to Osh, Kyrgyzstan, and from there to Turkmenbashi and Baku, as well as to Turkey via BTK," Jafarov said.
BTK was inaugurated on October 30, 2017. The railway line connects the railway networks of Asia and Europe. This is the shortest route not only between the three countries, but also between Asia and Europe. BTK allows to reduce the time spent on cargo transportation by more than 2 times. The BTK railway facilitates access to European and world markets for Central Asian countries - Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
The 504-kilometer section of the 846-kilometer BTK falls on the territory of Azerbaijan. 263 kilometers of the railway line pass through Georgia. 79 km of the road is in Turkey. It is planned to transport 5 million tons of cargo in the first stage, 17 million tons in the next stage, and then in a larger volume.
