Several villages in Lerik cut off due to landslides

Twenty days of torrential rains have caused a disruption in the connection between several villages of the Lerik district and the district center, Habil Malikov, Deputy Head of the Lerik District Executive Power, Chairman of the District Emergency Situations Commission, told the Southern Center of Report.

"Landslides occur regularly in several directions on the Lerik-Lankaran road. They occurred at the 45th, 46th, 49th, 50th, and 52nd km. The Road Maintenance Department No. 52 constantly monitors the operation of the road. Landslides damaged the Piran-Veri-Galab highway. Landslides have been more active on the Aliabad-Larmarud-Babazigon highway, which has covered five villages over the past week. About 2,000 people living in the area have lost contact with the district center. Residents are forced to move to the neighboring Masalli district."

Malikov said that due to heavy rains, farms were also severely damaged: "In Shivla village, which is part of Osiodare administrative district, lands belonging to citizens became unusable due to landslides. The existing landslide activity increased again in Veri-Aliabad. As a result, about five residential houses are in danger of collapsing at any moment. We have informed the citizens about the need to leave their homes. Specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) have also inspected the area. There is no news yet. "

The Deputy Chief of Executive Power also noted that the consequences of the landslide that occurred on the Lerik-Gosmalian-Kelvaz road this morning were partially eliminated at 11:00 am, and traffic was restored.
