In 2023, more than 6,300 illegal migrants were detained in Azerbaijan, and 2,331 of them were deported from the country, the State Migration Service said, Report informs.
As reported, 6306 foreigners and stateless persons were detained within the measures against illegal migration in January-August 2023. It was determined that they live (illegally) without residency documents, engage in activities that do not correspond to the declared purpose of their travel to the country, engage in illegal labor activities, or do not live at their registered address. During that period, 2,331 foreigners who violated the migration legislation were administratively removed from the borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan and their entry into the country was limited for the period specified by law, while others were provided with the legalization of their residence in the territory of the country or their voluntary departure from the country.
At the same time, a total of 15,163 administrative decisions were made regarding stay, residence, employment of foreigners and other related issues. Also, the discovered materials on the cases related to the organization of illegal migration and human trafficking were presented to the relevant law enforcement agency for legal assessment.
