Hasan Omarov: Azerbaijan climbed 30 positions in global ranking of average internet speed

Azerbaijan has moved up 30 notches in the average internet speed rating, ranking 91st among 154 countries, Hasan Omarov, acting director general of Aztelekom, said during the reporting event of the Online Azerbaijan project, Report informs.

He noted that the country has also improved its position in the UN e-government development level rating, moving up nine notches and ranking 74th among 193 countries.

"For the first time, Azerbaijan entered the highest category of the digital governance rating, scoring 0.76 points, which is the highest figure in the country's history. As part of Aztelekom's large-scale modernization strategy, the provided internet speed was 86 Mbps by the end of 2024," he noted.

Omarov also stressed that the average internet speed in the country has increased four times and reached 66 Mbps by the end of last year.

"Thanks to these achievements, Azerbaijan took 91st place in the world Internet ranking, and, most importantly, was able to move up 30 positions after 2021," the acting CEO added.
