Dunay Badirkhanov: Region can make great contribution to global space economy

The region, including Central Eurasia, has the potential to make a significant contribution to the rapidly developing global space economy through innovation, infrastructure development, and strategic regional cooperation, stated Dunay Badirkhanov, Acting Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan’s Space Agency (Azercosmos) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, Report informs.

Speaking at the Space Technology Conference (STC2025) held in Baku, Badirkhanov mentioned that this potential will be further strengthened by modern developments in the space sector and international cooperation.

"The development of the region in the space sector allows for creating significant impacts at both local and international levels, which further strengthens Azerbaijan's leadership in the region and on a global scale," he said.

Badirkhanov also highlighted that Azercosmos is proud to play an important role in the transformation of the global space sector.

He noted that space is increasingly gaining importance in the areas of sustainable development, climate observation, technological progress, and international cooperation, stating that the joint efforts of Azerbaijan and international partners in this field have positive results worldwide.
