Washington's one-sided and biased stance regarding Azerbaijan is entirely unacceptable, Ziyafat Asgarov, Vice-Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis (Parliament), said at the plenary session of the parliament held on October 8, Report informs.
Asgarov emphasized that this stance is primarily a sign of disrespect towards Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity:
"I appeal to state officials and others that there is no such thing as ‘Nagorno-Karabakh’; there is Karabakh, which has historically been the territory of Azerbaijan and will always remain so.
“Regrettably, such statements undermine the long-term relations between Azerbaijan and the United States in both bilateral and multilateral contexts.”
The vice-speaker accused the US government of yet another demonstration of double standards against Azerbaijan and false and hypocritical position:
“The allegations made by US officials against Azerbaijan are nothing but an encouragement of separatism and revanchist forces within Armenia.”
Azerbaijani MPs have sent a letter to the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, requesting the termination of agreements with the US and the suspension of USAID projects.
