Azerbaijan’s role in the development of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) is certainly very great, Political scientist, director of the Kazakhstan Institute of Applied Ethnopolitical Research Talgat Kaliev told Report.
“This is due both to the geographical location of Azerbaijan, which is essentially located in the center of the Turkic world, and to the personality of the country’s president, Ilham Aliyev, who gives unconditional priority to the Turkic vector. At the same time, he maintains close relations with all the heads of the member countries of the organization and makes a huge contribution to development of Turkic cooperation,” said Kaliev.
According to the political scientist, the OTS for the countries included in the organization serves as a permanent operating platform where new decisions are made to bring their economies and cultures closer together.
“Our countries and peoples have a high level of mutual trust, and this must be used to transform it into specific economic benefits for each state individually,” he added.
Kaliev also emphasized the role of the Middle Corridor for the participating states of the OTS: “The Middle Corridor between countries will facilitate the transfer of technologies, goods, services and will become a very serious core project that will help bring our peoples closer together, and this, in turn, will further contribute to greater integration,” he concluded.
