MSLU Rector: Fuzuli integral to cultural code of Azerbaijani nation

The Moscow State Linguistic University (MSLU) hosted an International Scientific and Practical Conference dedicated to the 530th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Muhammad Fuzuli.

According to Report's Russian bureau, the event was organized by MSLU and the Regional Public Organization "National-Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis of Moscow".

The conference featured a thematic exhibition and a video presentation showcasing the life and work of the great poet. Before the event, participants congratulated the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on his birthday.

In her opening speech, MSLU Rector Irina Krayeva thanked the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Russia, the Russian representative office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and the CIS Executive Committee for their support in organizing the event. She also read a welcome letter from the Rector of Baku Slavic University, Anar Naghiyev.

Krayeva noted that the conference was part of the "Geniuses of the World" project, which highlights individuals who have made invaluable contributions to world culture. "It is impossible to imagine the Azerbaijani language and, I would say, the cultural code of the nation without Fuzuli. It is thanks to Fu zuli that Azerbaijanis have become such incorrigible romantics. His poem 'Leyli and Majnun' has become a priceless treasure that Fuzuli left as an eternal memory of himself," she said.

The MSLU rector emphasized that her university has been cooperating with Azerbaijani universities for many years and actively works to study and promote not only the Azerbaijani language but also the culture and traditions of friendship between the two nations.

Speakers at the conference included Yusif Vazirov, Advisor to the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Russia; Bakhtiyar Hasanov, Chairman of the Council of the National-Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis of Moscow; Vagif Bayramov, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Education; and several distinguished professors. Students of the MSLU Translation Faculty also recited Fizuli's ghazals and rubais.
