People in some Western countries are uninformed about Islam and the Holy Quran, Khalid Fathalrahman, the Director of ICESCO's Center for Civilizational Dialogue, said at an international scientific conference themed "Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias, Shattering Stigmas," held in Baku, Report informs.
According to Fathalrahman, this is why Islamophobia is widespread in those areas:
"To combat this, extensive awareness-raising efforts should be carried out. Islamophobia affects not only people's religious choices but also their way of thinking. The stage Islamophobia has reached in some Western countries is reminiscent of the painful events of the Crusades. The situation is truly serious."
